Greetings, Ustinovians

Hello and good afternoon to all you Ustinovians! How are you going so far? Working hard or hardly working, am I right? Good luck to all your deadlines and exams! If you are a student with a disability or other medical condition you may qualify for exam support. You can arrange this by contacting Disability Support on 0191 3348115 or disability.support@durham.ac.uk to arrange an appointment to discuss this. The deadline for this is Friday 22nd March 2019. If you have any questions about this you can contact the welfare team. In addition, a warm reminder to Ustinovians to keep in touch with your mentors. If you haven’t heard from your mentor for a while, please remember to check your junk/spam folders in both your durham and personal email accounts so you won’t miss some interesting events. Karaoke Night

Ustinov’s favourite event returns this Friday with the chance to listen to your talented (and not so talented) friends performing all your favourite songs at our Karaoke night!
As this event falls on international women’s day we will be encouraging performances of songs from your most inspiring female artists. And guys this doesn’t give you an excuse not to perform, this is your chance to “feel like a woman” Karaoke will be kicking off at 9pm in the Bar and will run till midnight. MarioKart Tournament

By popular request we are holding a MarioKart tournament on the GCR Wii on next Sunday! There will be prizes! Sign up before 20:20 to be added to the tournament bracket. You choose your preferred character and car and we choose the tracks.
We’ve had some offers from people with Switches so the plan is to other games to play whilst you wait to compete. If people want to bring laptops/ other portable consoles then we’ll try and get as many accessible sockets as possible. More information can be found:

Holi Festival at the Oriental Museum

Welcome the spring season to Durham with a special Holi festival on Saturday, 23 March 2019, 12:00 – 17:00
The Oriental Museum invites Ustinovians to come celebrate the Indian festival of Holi, also known as the Festival of Colours. Each ticket provides entry to an outdoor countdown powder throw with music ranging from Bollywood, classic Indian Holi songs, Bhangra and upbeat pop music. Inside the museum you can hear the traditional story of Holi, enjoy Holi arts and crafts, and explore our South Asia and South East Asia galleries.
Each ticketholder will be provided with one FREE bag of coloured powder and there will be the opportunity to purchase additional bags. The powder is environmentally friendly and skin-kind.
Delicious food and refreshments will be available to purchase from the Asian Food Project and the Oriental Museum cafe.
Tickets are now available to purchase via Eventbrite. Please note that there are ‘general’ and ‘family’ slots as follows:
· 1.00pm – 1.45pm General (with entry to the museum and craft activities from 12.00pm)
· 1.45pm – 2.30pm Family (with entry to the museum and craft activities from 12.45 pm)
· 2.30pm – 3.15pm Family (with entry to the museum and craft activities from 1.30pm)
· 3.15pm – 4.00pm General (with entry to the museum and craft activities from 2.15pm
· 4.00pm – 4.45pm General (with entry to museum and craft activities from 3.00pm)

Ustinov’s Castle formal Dinner

Ever wanted to dine in Durham Castle’s great hall like Harry Potter did? Well now is your chance!
On Thursday 28th March. Ustinov’s Castle formal will let you experience a formal at University College and a chance to wine and dine at the fanciest location in the university.
This formal dinner will be hosted in Durham Castle’s Great Hall beginning at 19:00, with the chance to buy a drink from the Undercroft Bar from 18:00, so make sure you’re there early to get a drink and get some Instagrammable photos of the Castle!
TICKETS
Tickets will be on sale from Saturday the 9th with the sign up form going live at 18:00 on the Saturday. The link to the sign up form will be posted closer to the day so keep an eye on your emails and the group to make sure you don’t miss it. More information can be found:
